Churchill Marine Tank Farm

Churchill, MB · Cooperative · Indigenous-affiliated · Churchill Marine Tank Farm Company · Hudson Bay (Churchill River estuary, at the Port of Churchill)

The Churchill Marine Tank Farm is a marine fuel and petroleum storage terminal co-located at the Port of Churchill on the west coast of Hudson Bay, owned by Arctic Gateway Group (AGG). It stores jet fuel, gasoline and diesel in nine 85,000-litre double-wall tanks (roughly 765,000 litres total), receiving fuel either by rail via the Hudson Bay Railway or unloaded from ships at the port, then distributing it to the town of Churchill, the Churchill airport and the surrounding region to heat and power northern communities. The facility underwent multi-million-dollar environmental remediation and decommissioning of the former tank farm together with installation of the new tanks, and AGG holds additional acreage for future expansion tied to plans for expanded petroleum and critical-mineral export through the Arctic gateway.
