Come By Chance / Braya Renewable Fuels Marine Terminal
Come By Chance, NL · Private · Braya Renewable Fuels · Placentia Bay (Come By Chance arm), near Whiffen Head
Deep-water tanker dock serving the Come By Chance refinery on Placentia Bay, which since 2022 has been converted from a crude-oil refinery into the Braya Renewable Fuels facility (commercial operations began February 2024). All feedstock (e.g. soybean oil and distiller's corn oil) is received by ship at the dock and all finished product is loaded out by ship, using repurposed existing tankage; initial output capacity is about 18,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel, with planned expansion into sustainable aviation fuel and green hydrogen. The facility is operated by Braya Renewable Fuels (owned by Cresta Fund Management), the successor to North Atlantic Refining Corp. Come By Chance is also designated a federal "public port" under the Canada Marine Act (Transport Canada holds the waterbeds and may collect harbour dues), but TC owns no wharf facilities here — the marine terminal/tanker dock itself is private refinery infrastructure.
