Crofton Mill Marine Terminal
Crofton, BC · Private · Domtar · Osborn Bay / Stuart Channel (Salish Sea)
Private, owner-operated deep-sea marine terminal serving the Crofton pulp and paper mill on the east coast of Vancouver Island, fronting Osborn Bay on Stuart Channel. Commissioned in 1957, the deep-sea port shipped the mill's forest products - northern bleached softwood kraft pulp (about 355,000 t/yr) and newsprint/directory paper (about 349,000 t/yr) - to markets in western North America, Asia, and Latin America. The mill was acquired by Paper Excellence Canada (via Catalyst Paper) in 2019 and later operated under Domtar; paper operations were indefinitely curtailed in early 2024 and Domtar announced the permanent closure of the Crofton mill on December 2, 2025, ending terminal cargo operations.
