Digby

Digby, NS · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · Annapolis Basin / Bay of Fundy

Digby is a working harbour on the Annapolis Basin, a tidal arm of the Bay of Fundy in southwest Nova Scotia. It supports the region's commercial fishing economy — notably a world-renowned inshore scallop fleet, plus lobster and aquaculture operations — along with cruise/yacht visits and the historic Bay of Fundy ferry link to Saint John, NB. Although Transport Canada still lists Digby on its owned-public-ports roster (Atlantic Region), the harbour was divested federally in 1998 (to the Maritime Harbour Society) and has been owned and operated since 2008 by the Digby Harbour Port Association, a community non-profit that manages the Fisherman's Wharf, the Bay Ferries marine terminal and the Royal Western Nova Scotia Yacht Club marina. Facilities include the main concrete wharf with spur extension, 23 floating docks, a breakwater, and electrical/waste-oil infrastructure.
