La Tabatiere (Remote Port Facility)

La Tabatiere, QC · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · Gulf of St. Lawrence (Lower North Shore / Basse-Côte-Nord)

La Tabatiere is a remote port facility owned by Transport Canada (Quebec Region) on the north shore of the Gulf of St. Lawrence in the Lower North Shore (Basse-Côte-Nord), about 180 km west of Blanc-Sablon. The wharf is critical lifeline infrastructure for the road-inaccessible community, supporting the weekly supply of goods, reception of essential commodities, and shipping of merchandise. It is one of six Lower North Shore villages served by the M/V Bella Desgagnes, the combined cargo-and-passenger vessel operated by Relais Nordik that links Rimouski to Blanc-Sablon from April to mid-January. The facility falls under Transport Canada's remote ports category, which serves communities where marine transportation is the primary mode of transport.
