Port of Johnstown

Johnstown (Edwardsburgh/Cardinal), ON · Municipal · Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal · St. Lawrence Seaway (Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Seaway system)

The Port of Johnstown is a municipally owned dry-bulk marine terminal on the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Seaway system, owned and operated as a division of the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal (formerly known as the Port of Prescott). It provides inland deep-water dockage for shipping and receiving dry bulk cargo, anchored by a major grain elevator that handles soybeans, corn, and wheat, along with aggregates, road salt, and slag. The CN-rail-served port functions as an intermodal trade hub generating roughly $11 million annually for the region and supporting over 100 direct and indirect jobs. In 2025 it launched a long-term partnership with V6 Agronomy to build a rail-served, low-carbon phosphate/crop-nutrient fertilizer import terminal (first building broke ground July 2025, ~18,000 t vessel-discharge capacity, scaling toward ~150,000 t of on-site storage across four planned buildings).</description> <parameter name="serviceTags">["Grain", "Bulk", "Cargo", "Terminal Operator", "Logistics", "Marine Services", "Marine Operator", "Grain elevator / dry-bulk terminal"]
