Port of Lewisporte

The Port of Lewisporte is a year-round deep-sea port on Newfoundland's northeast coast in Notre Dame Bay, marketed as the "Gateway to the North." It has two main wharves (north 150 m, south 152 m with a roll-on/roll-off ramp), a 38.7 m wharf width and 7 m minimum depth, plus 2,600 m² of enclosed warehousing, access to an 11,148 m² warehouse, and 4.5 ha of laydown, offering stevedoring, transshipment, shore power, customs service, harbour pilotage, and marine fuel bunkering. It handles general cargo and petroleum and serves as the principal distribution, shipping and supply point for the northeast coast of Newfoundland and coastal Labrador (freight origin for the Labrador coastal service). The port also hosts a major fuel terminal and tank farm (≈95 million litres in 16 tanks) owned and operated by Woodward's Oil Ltd., which supplies aviation/jet fuel, gasoline and diesel including fuel historically distributed to Gander International Airport.
