Public Port of Blanc-Sablon
Blanc-Sablon, QC · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · Strait of Belle Isle (Blanc-Sablon Bay)
Blanc-Sablon is a Transport Canada remote public port facility on Blanc-Sablon Bay in the Strait of Belle Isle, at the easternmost end of Quebec's Lower North Shore, serving a community where marine transportation is a primary mode of access. The wharf is the Quebec-side terminus of the year-round St. Barbe–Blanc-Sablon ferry across the Strait of Belle Isle, operated by Labrador Marine Inc. on behalf of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador using the roll-on/roll-off vessel MV Qajaq W (capacity ~120 vehicles including 8 tractor-trailers and 300 passengers). Beyond the ferry, the wharf supplies the local population with general goods and petroleum products and the wider region is served by the Quebec coastal supply ship Bella Desgagnés, making it an essential cargo-resupply and passenger/vehicle hub for this remote area.
