Public Port of La Tabatière
La Tabatière, QC · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · Gulf of St. Lawrence (Lower North Shore / Côte-Nord)
La Tabatière is a remote public port facility owned and managed by Transport Canada (Quebec Region) on the north shore of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, in the Lower North Shore region roughly 180 km west of Blanc-Sablon, where marine transportation is the primary mode of access. The wharf is used mainly for the weekly resupply of the community and for receiving and shipping general merchandise, and it also serves as a receiving terminal for petroleum products stored in nearby tanks. Berth No. 1 was reconstructed under a roughly $8 million contract after winter storm damage, using a composite wall of sheet-steel piling and cylindrical piles anchored to rock, and a floating dock has been installed. It is one of TC's remote/local port facilities serving isolated Quebec coastal communities.
