Public Port of Paspébiac

Paspébiac, QC · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · Chaleur Bay (Baie des Chaleurs)

Paspébiac is a Transport Canada public port on the north shore of Chaleur Bay (Baie des Chaleurs) on the Gaspé Peninsula, about 195 km southwest of Gaspé, and is listed under the federal Ports Asset Transfer Program (PATP). The harbour consists of two parallel wharves: the inner wharf is owned by Fisheries and Oceans Canada and serves the local fishing fleet, while the outer deep-water wharf is owned by Transport Canada and was historically the only deep-water wharf accessible year-round in the sector, supporting commercial marine activity. Due to deteriorating infrastructure (the protective breakwater was reported to have reached the end of its useful life in 2016), Transport Canada restricted the wharf to vehicles and navigation in 2022 and closed it to pedestrians in spring 2025; TC is analyzing options including a possible property transfer. Nearby maritime/seafood activity centres on the Unipêche MDM fish-processing plant and the Banc-de-Pêche-de-Paspébiac National Historic Site.
