Sept-Iles (Pointe-Noire), QC · Cooperative · SFPPN LP / SEC · St. Lawrence River / Gulf of St. Lawrence (Bay of Sept-Iles, Pointe-Noire), Cote-Nord

SFP Pointe-Noire is a private multi-user rail and port logistics complex at Pointe-Noire on the Bay of Sept-Iles (Gulf of St. Lawrence), Cote-Nord, providing rail transportation and bulk-commodity handling for the natural-resource industry since 2016, when the Quebec government acquired the operation. It primarily handles iron ore from North Shore and Labrador mines, moving more than 2,500 railway cars per week over 34 km of track and offering 2.5 Mt of ore storage across two yards linked by a 7 km conveyor network with stacker-reclaimers and dumping stations. Port operations achieve an average ship-loading rate of about 6,000 tonnes/hour across three accessible deep-water industrial docks, with total annual throughput exceeding 10 Mt and roughly 500 ha of industrial land available. It is operated by the private partnership SFPPN (not the Sept-Iles Port Authority) and employs 280+ local staff; key clients include Quebec Iron Ore (Bloom Lake), Tata Steel Minerals Canada, and Tacora Resources.
