Sorel-Tracy Maritime Terminal
Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel, QC · Private · QSL · St. Lawrence River (at the mouth of the Richelieu River)
The Sorel-Tracy Maritime Terminal is a year-round, deep-water terminal operated by QSL (Québec Stevedoring & Logistics) on the St. Lawrence River at the mouth of the Richelieu River, about 70 km (44 mi) east of Montreal. It handles bulk cargo, general cargo and steel, with 11 m (36 ft) of water depth allowing all St. Lawrence-class vessels to dock; it offers 4,744 m² of indoor storage and roughly 112,000 m² of outdoor storage, served by two CN rail lines and direct highway access. Separately, in the nearby Sorel-Tracy IP Zone, QSL is developing a new multimodal port terminal (built on a former Hydro-Québec thermal-power site) for fertilizers, road salt and general cargo, with Phase 1 inaugurated in 2021 and further phases progressing as a ~$20M investment.
